The short film "El Barbero, a story about Autodefensas" (2015) directed by Abraham Escobedo Salas, for which I composed the music score is still on festival-tour through many countries.
The film had Premiere at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara early this year in the section "Iberoamerican Short Films" and was running at festivals like the Shorts Mexico 2015 in Mexico City, International Film Fest Pízek in the Czech Republic, the Festival Curta cinema 2015 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano from La Habana, Cuba, Festival Internacional de Cine de Caracas, Venezuela and the Oaxaca Film Fest in Mexico.
The movie approaches a very topical and complex issue in Mexico:
"Don Salvador, the town barber, is an undercover informant for the Vigilantes (Autodefense) civilian troops in the fight against the drug cartels. He will be the middle man for a key piece of information; protecting it will face him against retaliation and his own ideals."

En un pueblo dominado por el cartel de la zona, los autodefensas se mantienen en lucha para hacerles frente. Don Salvador, el barbero del pueblo, será el intermediario de un comunicado clave; protegerlo lo confrontará con la venganza.
In a town dominated by a drug cartel, a vigilante group (called self defense squad) struggles to continue the fight against it. Don Salvador, the town barber will be the middle man for a key piece of information; protecting that will confront him with vengeance.
Here you can hear 2 excerpts from my score for the film:
